Logo, identity and brand: what's the difference?
The three words are used interchangeably. They don't mean the same thing.
Logo
The logo is the mark on the sign, in the email and on the profile picture. It is the smallest part.
Identity
The identity is the logo, colours, typefaces and templates, used according to fixed rules. It makes you look the same whether you send an invoice or publish a post.
Brand
The brand is what others think and say about you when you’re not in the room. You can influence it through what you stand for and the way you say it, but you don’t own it alone.
Start with the brand
Begin with what you stand for and who you are for. Logo and identity are easier to decide afterwards, because they have to show the same thing as the brand.
